A Dark Portrait of Life Painted in Color

Framing

My employer is putting on a moderately sized addition to their office building. The contractors’ work has been coming along nicely. It has taken very little time to go from pouring the foundation to adding the floor joists for the second floor. Obviously the foundation is critical, as it is the primary structure for the rest of the addition to rest upon; but the framing should not be overlooked in the overall success of the project. So is true with the framing of our lives, by comparison.

We may not start out with the same foundation or building blocks, but we all (mostly all) have the opportunity to take the framing into our own hands. This is where you can show the world just how high it is that you’re willing to build. Are you content with stopping at one story? Do you wish to be nestled in nicely with the rest of your neighborhood? Or, do you wish to build with the stars in mind, and have them shine on you come nightfall?

Build as high as you are able, look to others for help, and build even higher. Your neighbors may see your prospective goals as inspiration for theirs, and see it as motivation for themselves to build higher in their framing as well. Don’t be afraid to seek help for your dwelling. On the contrary, don’t be afraid to lend a hand if you see someone reaching for one. Once you have your framing as high as you wish, the rest of the elements will come naturally. Oh, and leave room for an addition in the future…you never know what ideas you may discover along the way.
